How to promote a VKontakte group for business + a nice bonus!


Background

Recently a client came to me who needed an active live group for mothers to upsell children's educational products. I created the group from scratch and created what I thought was a divine content plan that suited the interests of the audience.

However, mom’s life hacks, legends and myths of breastfeeding, and posts in the style of “removing poop in 10 minutes” did not attract the audience at all. What is written on the Internet is already known to everyone; such content is of no use. The overall activity of VKontakte did not grow.

Then I decided to dig a little deeper.

Everything related to PR can rather be attributed to offline activities. But they are the ones that perfectly increase engagement on social networks, as there is a transition from offline to online. One example of this transition is the wooden hashtag. Clients take pictures with it and post it to their account, tagging your social networks and subscribing to them. Thus, you get new subscribers-commentators interested in your product or services.

This also includes: SMS mailings, business cards with contacts, a printed Instagram business card attached to the monitor at the checkout area, pasting mirrors and shop windows with a logo, and so on.

What to do if they don’t respond to your content and how to increase activity on VKontakte?

To write content that will be discussed, you need to not only map out all the interests of your potential audience, but also understand their needs and provide value.

I have highlighted several techniques that will help increase activity under VKontakte posts. I’ll share them using the example of that same project for mothers.

Ask for help

Any person loves and wants to feel like an expert. Especially if this person is a mother. To get her to talk, you just need to show how important and necessary her opinion is to the group’s subscribers.

For example, ask about personal experience in solving a problem. Tell stories and try to ask questions about the topic to get a full, detailed answer.

The “Question from a Subscriber” section is perfect for such tasks. I choose one of the problems (by the way, my mothers send them to me directly in private messages), publish them anonymously and ask subscribers for help with advice. And they help.

Help yourself

Even an experienced mother of many children cannot know everything. Therefore, help subscribers by inviting professionals from specific and related fields to discuss problems.

For my project, I chose the format of online consultation with a teacher. It’s simple: we set the topic of the consultation, release a post-announcement, the audience asks questions in the comments, and professionals answer them. The thing is simple, useful, and subscribers like it. VKontakte activity is growing.

Make interesting live broadcasts

Live broadcasts can show the audience that you are not only professionals in your field who can be trusted, but also real people with whom you can consult. And not robots who have one goal: to snatch something.

In my project, together with teachers, I conducted many live broadcasts: for example, “Starting to learn English with a child”, “How to choose a developmental children's center”, etc.

Address controversial topics

No one is interested in discussing what is already clear. For example, in an exemplary mother's group, it is unlikely that anyone will respond to educational posts about the dangers of smoking during pregnancy with a three-volume essay. Most likely it will be tacit consent.

Therefore, touch on controversial topics and don’t be afraid to get a package of negative comments for dessert. This is also activity.

To buy a new product or service, people often read reviews, watch reviews and discuss them. Moms are people too and do the same things.

In my project, teachers tested all sorts of children's educational toys, and then wrote reviews like this on them. The audience found it useful and willingly shared comments.

Everyone loves useful gifts. And all polite people thank them for them. Pamper your subscribers more often, and they will give you a positive reaction in the comments.

Increasing the coverage of the VK group

Nowadays the competition on the Internet is too high, so you need to choose a topic that not many people use, but it will be close to everyone. Write your community description in a way that portrays it in its best light. There must be something in these few words that will be able to attract maximum attention to joining the number of subscribers.

This indicator can be increased by reposting. To do this, you can order advertising in other groups, but publish it not in the form of posts, but in the form of a repost from group to group. Plus, the more interesting your content, the more often people will repost and your message will spread. To do this, you can use viral news that everyone is talking about. Plus, the more entries you have per day, the higher your reach.

It is important to take a balanced approach to publishing posts here. Naturally, this does not mean that it is necessary to publish 50 posts per day. This will lead to unfollows from your group as it will annoy users. The number of posts per day depends on the size of your audience. In the first stages, the number of posts should be 3 – 5 pieces. As your audience grows, you can gradually increase the number of published posts. Only top VKontakte communities can afford to publish posts every hour

Competitions, prizes for reposting

If you make money from advertising, then advertisers also pay attention to the number of likes that are placed on your posts, as well as the number of comments. This shows the activity of your audience and the popularity of your community. How to increase the number of likes? For this, it is again important to create quality content.

You can use special posts with a caption where you encourage people to like them. For example, this could be a photo of a cute cat and an incentive to like it. In addition, you can post posts of the following nature: if, for example, this post gets 1000 likes, then a competition will be held in the group, or indicate some other incentive. It's important to encourage your followers to leave comments. To do this, you can use special posts discussing interesting issues.

Other methods for increasing VKontakte group ratings

Statistics can be raised quickly and effectively through competitions. If you use competitions to identify the most active member of the group, you can increase the number of likes, reposts, and comments. Repost competitions will allow you to increase your community coverage, as well as the number of new visitors and participants

You can raise statistics artificially. For example, you can use promotion services by ordering reposts, comments, and likes there. However, you should not overuse this method. Firstly, it is prohibited, and you risk that the group may fall under sanctions. Secondly, usually the cheating is noticeable and easy to identify. Therefore, it is better to use no more than 20 percent of activity through such services. For example, if the average number of likes on your posts is 100, then you shouldn’t get more than 20 likes

Use hashtags under your posts. This will also increase the number of unique visitors

Afterword

Low activity on VKontakte is a problem for many commercial public sites, especially if their promotion on social networks starts from scratch.

When developing content, try to pay attention not only to the interests of the audience (I’m sure you will find them all), but also to the benefits of the needs: ask for help, help yourself, give useful gifts, get acquainted, etc. And in order to stir up the silent audience even more, you can use targeted mailings, which my colleague Sergey Tishin talked about.

How to automate posting on VK?

You can, of course, hire an administrator and he will post posts, but this costs money, so we use auto-posters on VKontakte. Now there are many programs for computers and online services for delayed publications, in order to fill in posts for the day in advance and not worry about the fact that the group is not full. But these posts still need to be found, and this is the routine! I personally hate rummaging through public pages and looking for interesting posts, but just recently I found a cool software called Mix Poster, which itself finds posts that get a lot of likes, shows them to me and posts them to my group! In my opinion, this is a brilliant invention, because it takes on the routine work, and gives me the opportunity to communicate with clients and do sales! I found this software from this video:

After watching it, I immediately downloaded the program and started trying to work with it. 3. And the third graph in these statistics is full coverage. It is highlighted in blue. This includes all views of your content, both by subscribers and other users.

These can be views directly in the group, as well as in the news feed, on the pages of users who reposted, in other groups where you placed ads, in the section of recommended posts and in the VKontakte search engine.

If you are engaged in commercial promotion, then full coverage is the most important indicator for you, since it is in your interests that as many people as possible come into contact with your content.

At the moment, there are many services for creating dynamic covers. They are inexpensive. For example, the service we used costs only 200 rubles per month for one community. Some are more expensive, some are cheaper. Here are a few such services:

  • Dycover.ru is a free basic tariff with restrictions on functionality and a paid one for 100 rubles per month for one community without restrictions.
  • Letscover.me – free trial period for 48 hours for one community, then 200 rubles per month for one community, and higher for several.

Where can I get good content for the group?

The most ideal option is to invent it yourself. But it’s no secret that all groups and publics take content from each other, rarely remake it, and even less often look for it somewhere else. Unique content is good, but for business you don’t have to look for uniqueness; it’s enough to post something that already gets a lot of likes, thereby you publish a sure-fire post (which will already be liked, which means it’s more likely to get a lot of likes and shares in your group) . Such posts usually need to be taken in large public pages (mean, theft, but it works). Now I’ll tell you how to automate the process.
