The social network Vkontakte provides its users with the opportunity to tag various people in photographs, as well as in dialogues, places and objects. This feature greatly simplifies the process of recognizing people.
Adding and removing all these marks is as simple as possible. The principle of tagging specific users is the same on both mobile devices and personal computers.

How to mark a person in History?
There are two ways to tag a profile in your Story: by placing a sticker or text. You can tag both photos and videos. But first things first.
Sticker
To mention other accounts in your stories, Instagram created a sticker. Place it on your photo.
- Select a photo to publish;
- Open the “Stickers” section on the top bar of Instagram, third icon from the right;
- Select the “Mention” sticker;
- Enter the name of the account you want to mention.
- When you click on the sticker, change the color scheme. The number of colors in stickers is limited to transparent, rainbow and orange.
- Move the sticker to any part of the photo and post your story.

You don't have to post a sticker to mention an account. Use text input.
- Open the photo for publication;
- In the top bar, select text input, the first icon on the right;
- Type @ and then enter your profile name;
- Make sure the account is tagged - in this case it will be highlighted with an underscore.
The advantage of this type of marking is the use of advanced formatting types. Choose the font and color you like, just like for standard text in Instagram Stories.
Tag an account in a video
Creating a tag for a video is no different from a static image. Select a sticker or text and then apply the effects you want. You can also attach a tag in the video to the selected second of History.
- Open the video for publication;
- Tag your account with a sticker or text;
- Pinch the sticker until a bar that says “Attach” appears at the bottom;
- Select a moment in the video to attach a tag to.
Place other elements on the video in this way: text, stickers or emoticons.
Creating a description
The easiest and most convenient way is to inform others that a certain person is in the video clip using a description. To do this you will need:
- start publishing a pre-prepared clip;
- get to the point of creating a description (in addition to the user’s thoughts, the location and tags are also indicated here);
- enter the desired person in the text by placing the @ icon and starting to write the user name (after specifying the first letters, the system will automatically select and offer a suitable account);
- finish creating the post.
After publishing the entry, you should check the success and correctness of your own actions by simply clicking on the link that appears.
If everything is done correctly, the marked person’s page will open.
Those who are worried that the tagged may not know about the created tag should not worry. He will receive an information message indicating the mark immediately after the video clip appears on the wall of the person who published it.
How to tag an account in a post?
In the Foto
To tag a person in a photo in your feed, follow these simple instructions.
- Go to your profile and click on the “+” sign in the bottom panel;
- Select the photo to post;
- Apply filters and processing if necessary;
- At the last stage, insert the text and put a geotag - between them you will find the “Tag people” field. Click on it;
- A photo will open in front of you. Click on the area where the object or person to be marked is located;
- Enter the profile name and find the account to tag;
- Confirm the action and post the photo.
After posting a post, the tagged account will see the post in its tags section and receive a notification.
On video
You can also tag an account on a video in your feed.
- Prepare the video, reaching the last stage before publishing it in the feed;
- Select “Tag people” again;
- A video will open in front of you, click on the “+” sign under it;
- Find the account you want to tag;
- If necessary, place multiple tags on one video.
Unlike publications in Stories, you cannot tag an account at a selected moment in a video in your feed. The flag will be applied to the entire post.
Can I tag someone else's post?
Only the person posting the post can tag an account in a photo or video. But if you want your account to notice the material, there are a couple of ways:
- Share the post with your account. Under each post in the feed there is a sign resembling a paper airplane (third from the left). Click on it. Find your friend's account in the drop-down list and click "Submit". The publication will appear in your correspondence with your account in Direct.
- Send stories to the profile. Open the story you want to share. Find the familiar “paper airplane” icon below. Select a profile and click "Submit". If the account of the person whose story you are sending is public, your friend will also see it.
How to delete a tagged photo/video of you on Instagram?
If you have been tagged by regular spammers or you simply don’t like the photo/video, then any tag can be deleted (but not the post itself).
Find the post you need (see above). Click on it, then click on your mark. Here you can either remove the mark completely or save it, but not show it in your account.
How to tag a profile in the comments?
Another way for a person to see a photo or video in a third-party profile without a tag. Mention the account in the comments.
- Open the desired photo or video;
- Start writing text in the comments to the post, then type @ and your friend’s account name;
- The user will see a notification about the tag and go to the post where the mention is.
How to tag a friend in an already published photo/video?
Select the photo/video you want to tag your friend in. Click the three dots in the top right corner. Select Edit (iPhone) or Edit (Android).
Click "Mark". Tap the photo and start typing your Instagram account name. Select the one you need from the list or click “Search”. You can tag multiple accounts. You need to click on the photo again and repeat the same thing.
Click the checkmark in the upper right corner (Android) twice or “Done” (iPhone).
How many people can you tag?
Different types of mentions and tags on Instagram receive different limits:
- There are theoretically no restrictions for photos and videos in the feed. You can tag as many profiles as needed. But keep in mind that if you tag a lot of people in a photo, individual tags may be difficult to find in the image. And materials with a large number of tagged accounts receive complaints about spam and violation of service rules.
- There is a limit of 10 accounts per Instagram Stories. When posting a photo or video, you can mention no more than 10 people. Each of the tagged profiles will receive a notification about this via direct message.
- You can mention no more than 5 people in comments. However, in order to leave the next comment with a mark, you will have to wait 5-7 minutes.
Why can't I mark it?
It’s not always possible to mention a person on VK. This may be due to technical glitches on the social network. So, you should try again after some time.
It will not be possible to indicate a person in the photo if there are already 50 mentions . Also, you cannot tag a profile more than once . You can only edit and tag accounts on self-uploaded images . You won't be able to tag yourself or a friend in someone else's picture.
View your marks
Notifications
As soon as you are tagged in a post in your feed, a notification about this will be sent to the “Notifications” section. Go to the page where new likes and comments on posts are displayed (second tab on the right). There you will also find a notification about the new mark.
If you are tagged in stories, a notification about this will appear in the direct message. In correspondence with the user who tagged you, you will see a photo and an “Add to History” button.
You were tagged in (x) stories
Another way not to miss new posts in Stories is in the notifications section. If you have new tags, you'll see a circle at the very top of this section that says "You've been mentioned in x stories."
How to remove references to yourself
If you are tagged in a photo you don't like, untag the post:
- Open the post in which you are tagged;
- Tap the tags sign in the lower left corner - it will show all the profiles tagged in the post;
- Tap the sign with your name;
- Select “Delete tag”;
- Confirm the action.
After this, the photo will disappear from the marked materials. Other users will also not see your account tag when viewing photos.
How to hide marks about yourself
If you don't like the material in which you were tagged, but you don't want to remove the tag, hide this material from your account.
- Open the post with your tag;
- Tap the sign with the account name;
- Select the "Hide from my profile" option.
- Return the photo to your profile by opening the same post again and selecting “Show on My Profile.”
You can also hide all photos or videos in which you are tagged. To do this, change your privacy settings.
- Go to your profile and open the “Settings” section;
- Select "Privacy";
- Click the “Tags” section;
- Select the "Hide photos and videos" option.
- All materials in which you are tagged will become available. Select the ones you prefer to hide.

How to monetize IGTV channels?
Currently, users cannot receive money for making videos on IGTV ; monetization is disabled. Only recently, the social network Instagram announced that it is going to connect a program through which video creators will be able to monetize their creativity, and therefore receive income from creating high-quality content. How to see all the marks of another user
Posts in which the account is tagged are saved in a separate Instagram tab:
- Go to the profile whose tagged materials you want to see;
- Select an icon that resembles a person in a frame. It is located above the block with publications;
- Photos and videos in this section are the posts in which the profile is tagged.
You cannot view Stories where someone else's account is tagged. Such tags are visible to other users only when a profile shares a Story on their timeline.
How to hide IGTV?
As mentioned above, the video will not be shown in the feed if you delete the preview. To do this you need the following:
- Log in to your account and open your feed.
- Find a post from IGTV.
- There are three dots in the upper right corner. By clicking on them, a person will see that you can perform 2 actions: delete the preview and edit it.
- You need to click on “Delete preview” and confirm your decision again.
Note! The video will not be shown only in the feed. It will remain unchanged on Instagram TV. To get the video preview back, you must download the content again and enable the preview.
