Where do current photos come from?

The tool analyzes all the photos you have viewed - on friends’ pages, in public pages and groups (see how the types of pages differ in VK). It is based on photographs, which is formed on the basis of the number of likes and reposts (see also how to get likes on VK on an ava quickly and for free). As a result, we get a list of popular photos, which are displayed in the “Current photos” block.

With this tool, you can always see the best photos that have recently been published on pages that you find interesting and often visit.

Please note that the feed of current photos will be available if you have not visited your page in the last two hours (see how to hide the time of visit in contact). After viewing it, it is removed from the feed until a fresh list is generated.

Using the service located at hypercube1.ru, you can find out which VKontakte users posted their photos in various women's communities. The impressive list includes both fitness groups and pages dedicated to the modeling business.

The service analyzed such popular communities as “40 kg” (almost 3 million subscribers), “9O-6O-9O” (2.9 million) and “Women’s Secrets” (2 million). In total, more than 100 pages were analyzed, and the total number of photographs found is measured in hundreds of thousands. All found pictures are saved and available for downloading from the site in case VKontakte closes access to them.

In addition to open communities, the service also gained access to the content of closed groups, for example, “Love and Sex,” which has more than 300 thousand members. For this purpose, the data of those users who were already their participants was used, and access was provided through the VKontakte API.

Using the search, you can find out whether a specific person has published a photo, or look at the photos among all the friends of a certain user by entering the ID of his page. Since the communities are mainly aimed at a female audience (models and those looking for ways to lose weight), most of the photos show girls half naked or in the nude.

Creating such a search was possible because each uploaded photo on VKontakte has its own sender. In open group albums, photo authors are publicly displayed, but to view this information in a closed community, you must be a member of that community.

The service plans to allow you to search for photos of subscribers of a certain community (allowing you to limit the search area, for example, to a university-wide group), as well as handle the layout and design of the site. As the number of analyzed pages increases, the percentage of non-thematic photos (the authors of the service call them “soot”) will increase, and moderators will be hired to combat them.

The creator of the service asked users to leave all suggestions in the discussion on the image board “Dvach”, the first messages in which began appearing on January 30. Dvach members ask the administration to add new groups to the parsing list and offer them donations through electronic payment systems.

TJournal contacted the author of the service, who wished to remain anonymous.

TJournal: How did the idea for the service come about?

Someone on Dvach created this topic. Those who had certain programming skills made their own dumps, that is, text files that were tables like “id - link to photo” or something similar. Next, someone (php-kun, the first) created a service vk-photo.esy.es, in which you can enter the id of a person and see what they have uploaded. This service has fallen. Well, then I decided to write my own.

How long did the development take?

The first version was published on February 6 and was being finalized until today. It’s difficult to answer more precisely.

Is this not at all prohibited by the VKontakte rules?

I think no. When a user uploads his photo to an album and to the wall of a group or public page, clause 6.1.3 of the VK rules applies. Next, the non-exclusive right of copying is used (namely, copying links; the files with pictures themselves are not copied).

Further in the same paragraph it talks about the commercial use of photographs. It is planned to place advertising on the site. All proceeds received from advertising will be used to renew hosting services. Actually, there is no profit here, and accordingly there is no commercial use. And if suddenly the revenue is so large that you can forget about paying for the hosting services for a long time, then the resulting difference will go to charity. There will be no proofs.

Will they close these methods for obtaining photo data?

On March 19, the author of the site reported that he received a threatening letter from the owners of the analyzed communities.

I earnestly demand that you, within 24 hours of sending this letter, exclude the following groups from your search: 1. *link to group1* 2. *link to group2*

Eliminate any attempts to parse communities, as well as delete the personal data of users (including photos) collected by you from communities managed by *company_name*.

If the requirements are not met, we will contact the relevant authorities to organize the protection of the rights and interests of our users in the legal field.

How do I include current photos?

Go to your page and go to the “My News” section.

To the left of the “News” ribbon, there is a menu button (shaped like a cross). Click on it. In the list that appears, we tick two items: “Photos”, “Recommendations”.

Please note: here we can disable the display of unnecessary news.

As a result, we will see two new points. In the “Photos” section, all the new photos that our friends have posted and published on the pages of VKontakte groups will be presented.

If you want to prevent certain people's updates (news, comments, and photos) from being included in the list, you can exclude them. To do this, click on the “List of sources” link and remove the necessary people from the list.

The next block is “Recommendations”. Go to it - here you can see all the current updates. If you have not visited your page in the last two hours, then VK will kindly generate a list of current photos for you.
