Today I’ll show you how to pin any message in a multi-user conversation on VKontakte so that all participants in the conversation can see it from above and in no case miss important information. Additionally, we will look at who can pin posts and how to change the rights of conversation participants so that only the creator and/or administrators can do this.
With the advent of conversations in VK, many users of the social network began to use this tool for business purposes as an operational chat - this is much more convenient than regular groups, since all participants receive notifications about messages immediately the moment they appear.
But there is also a drawback - with active correspondence, posts quickly go down and those who did not have time to read in time most likely will not scroll down the feed. A pinned post solves the problem - a mandatory announcement or valuable information will always be at the top.
Why do you need to pin a message in a telegram?
When you use this function in a chat, group or channel, one additional line appears at the top, clicking on which automatically returns you to the pinned post in the feed. But what is this for?
The fact is that telegram is a messenger. This means that it is almost impossible to convey important information to all members of the community. That’s why it was decided to leave the important one in the most visible place. Typically this is necessary for the following types of posts:
- Important announcements or news
- Price for advertising in the channel
- Rules of use or behavior in the community
- Improvised menu. That is, a separate post is created with hashtags for specific categories, which are then pinned. This is done to ensure that the channel sections never disappear from view.
- Various questionnaires, surveys, etc.

Which news is worth pinning and which is not?
The nature of a pinned notification depends on many factors:
- type of chat, group, channel;
- topics;
- audience.
What is sent to the pin is what should be important for all participants, and not just for one. What can be pinned in a chat:
- current plans, documents, links;
- date of the upcoming event with explanations;
- information about the competition, drawing, quiz;
- advertising of goods, services;
- an important link to a third-party source (film, website, cloud, online book, video, article);
- channel or group information;
- a list of actions or instructions (for example, to unpack an archive using a link, download a file using a torrent);
- on thematic channels, the main news of the day becomes anchored, which is updated daily (news). Bestsellers - if it is an online store.
But what information is better not to send to the “head” of the conversation:
- Pointless nonsense. This will cause misunderstanding and unnecessary questions.
- Outdated information. The consequences vary depending on the type of information. From being late for work to transferring money to the wrong card.
- Personal data. Telegram respects the security and anonymity of its users, hiding information about them with encryption. You shouldn’t put everything about yourself on display; you never know what hands the information could fall into.
How to pin a post to a channel
To pin any message in a telegram on your computer, you need to enter the chat, group or your channel, and then right-click on the important post. Next, select the “Pin message” item and agree with the question that will be asked in the dialog box.
Now try going lower or going higher, and then click on the pinned post in your feed. You will find yourself on the same entry.
To do the same on your phone, you need to go to any of the dialogs, find an important message and simply tap on it once with your finger (no need to hold down). After this, a context menu will appear in which you will have to select the line “Pin”.
When you pin, all participants in the conversation or subscribers to your channel will receive an additional notification, unless they have them of course.
To unpin any message, just click on the cross that is located opposite it at the top, or attach a new post. Then an automatic replacement will occur, since there cannot be two posts in a fastener.
Purpose of securing a post
The function of pinning any information on social networks is relatively new, it is only a few years old. Why was this invented and how does it help the average user?
Usually some important message is sent to the pin, which should be seen by all participants in the dialogue or channel. Moreover, you can see quickly, and not look for information in thousands of correspondence. In the case of a work conversation, this could be work hours, duty schedules, vacations or sick leave. In the case of a friendly one - a current joke, a meme, a funny video, whatever. The goal here is one: to inform participants at the same time.
Sometimes information of a different nature gets captured - shocking, ambiguous or downright strange. News groups and channels use this technique to attract attention and attract as many readers as possible.
It is convenient to hold competitions and sweepstakes when the relevant information is displayed at the top of the group. In addition, goods and services are advertised in a similar way. The larger the potential audience, the easier it is to sell the product.
In addition to everything, pinned posts make the channel more attractive and interesting.
How to pin a message in a group
Unfortunately, if you try to do the same in a regular group, you will not succeed, since this menu item simply will not be there. But it can be done. To do this, you need to make a supergroup in a telegram from a regular one.
For a computer this is done as follows:
For a phone, everything happens exactly the same, except for a small difference. When you click on the header and enter "Group Information", click on the three dots in the upper right corner and immediately select "Make a supergroup". That is, you do not need to go to the additional menu.
Now, you, as an administrator, will be able to attach posts to the top. Other users will not be able to do this unless you make them admins.
As you can see, this is a very useful thing, and if I were you, I would certainly use it. For example, on my channel I constantly organize either voting or keep a price list with advertising prices at the top. Thanks to this, people are more likely to ask to be featured on the channel.

Pinning a chat or message means pinning it to the top chat panel or to the very top of your conversation list. Such a message or chat will not disappear anywhere in the stream of constantly updated dialogues. They will always be visible until you decide to unpin them.

Pin a message in a conversation on VKontakte
Sometimes it is necessary to attach an important message for everyone so that it does not get lost among dozens or hundreds of other, less important posts. There is such an opportunity in a VKontakte conversation. But you can only pin one message per conversation. If you try to attach a new one, it will replace the previous one. After attaching a message, you can unpin it at any time. This is done in the current conversation menu.
Pinning any message in a conversation on VK is quite simple. To do this, you need to select a post and click on the carnation icon in the panel at the top, next to the star-shaped icon “Mark as important.”
You can also attach a message in a conversation and in the mobile version of VKontakte. The pinned message will always be at the top of the page, and the remaining messages will be located below it.
Where to find pinned conversations
All SMS messages that were recorded are indicated with a star in the correspondence itself. However, you don’t have to look for them throughout the entire conversation. You can view it on Android as follows:

How to add a contact
There are several ways to invite participants to a conversation on social media. networks. You can use the conversation menu.
- To do this, click on the menu at the top of the page and select the first item “Add a companion.”
- After opening a window with a list of your friends, you need to select a participant by checking the box next to his name.
To invite your friends to a conversation in another way, there is a special conversation menu item - “Link to conversation”.

It's easy to delete one of your interlocutors. To do this, you need to open the page of all chat participants. Opposite each there is a cross. This is a button to delete a person you are talking to. But you can only delete those that the user added himself.
If a user leaves a conversation on their own, there is always a way to return to it. Even if you deleted all correspondence. To do this, open the conversation again and select “Return to conversation” from the menu. After this, you are again a full participant in this chat. If the correspondence has been completely deleted, then you need to insert the following link into your browser.
