The VKontakte social network has a huge number of different public pages and communities that are created daily. Some of them ultimately turn out to be unpopular and do not satisfy the creator with their result, so it is no longer needed. Then the question of our article arises for them.
This can be asked by absolutely any person who has ever created their own community using the popular social network VKontakte.
The fact is that the functionality of the site does not provide a function for deleting a community and for this reason this question arises among users.
Fortunately, I know and will tell you the complete algorithm of actions necessary to perform in order to delete the group that I created myself.

Group, public page, meeting. What is the difference?
At this point in time, when creating a community, the site will offer you one of 6 types.
In fact, there are only three main ones, which are divided into several. In fact, everything except “events” and “interest groups” are public pages, but with different topics.
Accordingly, VKontakte in 2021 has three types of community:
- Group
- Public page
- Event
They have some significant differences, and the most important thing is that in order to delete a public page or “public” as it is called on the network, it must be converted into a group using the built-in function of the site.
How are they different? Let's figure it out.

Determining the type of community
Accordingly, before you start deleting, you need to make sure that your community is a group, otherwise you won’t be able to delete it. Or rather, to do this, you will first need to transfer it to the group, and then begin the actions that are necessary for removal.
This does not apply to the event, since the algorithm of actions in it will be almost the same as for a regular group.
Let's tell you how to determine the type of community.
Visit the website vk.com and your personal page. In the left block, select “communities”. On the next page, go to the top "Manage" tab. You will see a list of communities and publics in which you are an administrator, creator or moderator. Under the name of the community you can notice its type or topic. See the screenshot to understand the identification.
As you already understand, groups will definitely have this written in the type name. The public pages will have a topic written, and the meeting will have a time.
To translate a public page, you must be its creator - this is a prerequisite. If you are not one, then, alas, you will not be able to delete a public page, even if you are an admin.
If you are the creator, then go to your public page and click the “transfer to group” button
A window like this will open.
From this warning you can understand that the transfer can only be done once a month. If you are satisfied with the conditions, then click the blue “transfer to group” button and confirm your action according to the site’s instructions.
After this, the public page type will change and you can follow the steps below to delete it.

There is nothing easier than deleting your unsuccessful public VKontakte page; it’s like crumpling up a piece of paper and throwing it in the trash. Especially if you realized that it is ineffective and only takes up space in your communities. The main condition for this: you must be its main administrator.
And now step by step:
First step : You need to decide on it, go to the public page that you decided to get rid of. To do this, on your account, click “My Groups” and select the public to be deleted, click on “Community Management”
Second step : Click on “Assign administrators”.
Third step : We delete non-main administrators sequentially by selecting “Delete” on them
Fourth step : We delete the main administrator in the same way, i.e. myself
This is not easy, as you will see a screen in front of you with the question: “Attention: deleting the main administrator of the page will lead to the deletion of the page.” The main thing here is not to get confused, especially since you have already made a decision, and click on “Delete” to confirm your decision.

Actions required to delete a group
To do this we will need to sweat. Especially if the community is filled with content and has many members.
The first step is to clear the wall of all notes. This is done by hovering the cursor over the arrow in the upper right corner of the post and selecting the “delete post” action. See screenshot below.
Next, get down to discussions, photo albums and audio recordings. Everything is done according to a similar algorithm, so I don’t see the point in focusing on every step.
By the way, it is not so important to delete all content. This is recommended by the VK administration. But by deleting all participants and making the group private, you will completely remove access to it. To reduce the time, you can try to contact the administration and help with removal.
To delete a community, it is more important to delete each participant so that it is deleted from each interlocutor. To do this, you will need to go to the community and select the “Participants” item in the left menu.
In the window that opens, you need to remove each member one by one by clicking the “Remove from community” button.
This may take a very long time. There are various ways to automate this process on the Internet, but I will not publish them here due to the fact that some applications may be malicious, and the scripts may be outdated at the time of publication of the article.
Use only at your own risk!
After this, only you will remain a participant. This is what we need. Now go to “Management” in the right block and change the group type to “private”. See the screenshot below to make it clearer.
After that, click on the blue “Save” button below.
It's now private, which means it doesn't show up in search lists and is only accessible by invitation.
Now you can go out with peace of mind. This is done on the main page by clicking the “you are a member” button and selecting the “leave group” menu item.
These are the steps required to be able to delete a community on VK.
Removing from a smartphone
Now we’ll look at how to delete a VK community from a smartphone. Similar actions can be done from a phone, but it is much more inconvenient, in my opinion, since manually deleting participants is very problematic.
But it can still be done. The actions are similar to those from a computer. I’ll tell you how to get to the “management” tab.
Go to the group that you created and want to delete. In the top right corner you will see a gear icon, which when clicked will take you to community settings. Click on it.
A page of parameters will open in front of you, in which we are interested in the “Information” and “Participants” items. In the first one we change the type, and in the second we delete subscribers.
Removing subscribers is done by clicking the three dots on the right and selecting “remove from community.”
Changing the group type occurs in the same way as in the case of a computer. Go to “Information” and select “Private” after all the necessary actions, as in the computer version.
I don’t recommend doing this except in cases where there is no access to a PC at all. It will take much more time than at the computer.
Where to have fun in the summer
Invite your friends to have breakfast in nature. To do this, take with you the food you planned to eat at home for breakfast so you don’t have to buy anything. Choose a soulful clearing on the river bank, take a ball and badminton with you, come up with active games and competitions. If one of your friends arrives by car, you can turn on music in it - a great start to the day.
You can go fishing or into the forest to pick mushrooms. This is an interesting and useful activity. By the way, the heat is easier to bear in the forest because there is shade. If you're lucky, you'll bring the loot home!
Take your friends with you and go to some park. There you can walk, sunbathe, roller skate, feed the birds and squirrels. It will be even more fun if you arrange a costume photo shoot there. Then you will definitely remember this day for a long time!
Find out where there is a free beach near you. Go there. You can have a great rest there: swim, sunbathe, play beach volleyball and maybe even meet someone. Before leaving home, be sure to eat so that you are not tempted to spend money on snacks that you don’t already have.
Try going hiking for a few days. What could be more fun than a hermit lifestyle? Sleeping in a tent, cooking over a fire, washing in a river - exotic! You will take a break from the bustle of the city and feel a surge of strength and vigor.
