After this, the “Do not show news...” button will appear, click on it, and then all posts of the selected community will disappear from your feed.

You can do it a little differently. While on the News tab, click on the filter image. A familiar window will open. The groups you are subscribed to are at the bottom of the list. Uncheck the box next to the community whose posts you want to hide.

If you generally need to remove records of all groups from the feed, then click on the “Actions” button and select “Show people”. The checkboxes next to the groups will be unchecked.

How to disable automatic playback of GIF animations

I don’t argue that GIF pictures (those that move) can be very interesting. They attract attention. That’s why advertisers love GIFs. But I prefer that only those files that I launch myself are played. You too?

In March 2021, clients of the third-party application Kate Mobile, which provides access to a page on the popular social network Vkontakte, faced restrictions on the news feed API from company representatives.

And why? VK users who are using the full version know how much advertising there is now. So the Kate Mobile developers decided to earn extra money by posting promotional publications without first coordinating them with VKontakte. The latter did not like it: they wanted a percentage of the placement, under the pretext of violating the rules of the social network (harm to health, hazardous substances, etc.) they asked to limit the appearance of advertising, but the dialogue did not take place, and the feed was turned off.

On March 15, employees of the social network disabled access for the Android application. The first complaints came: the VKontakte news feed did not work. Is it possible to see hidden sections?

But what if the person did not close the page completely, but only hid some sections from you - for example, photographs or audio recordings? Will I be able to view hidden data if I am a friend or subscriber of this user?

Before the 2021 update, you could use a simple trick to replace the user ID in the link. For example, to view hidden audio recordings, you just had to go to your audio page and replace your ID in the address bar with the number of the person you are interested in.

So, to access audio, you had to enter vk.com/audiosХХХХ in the address bar, and vk.com/albumsХХХХ to access photos, where ХХХХ is the ID of the desired user.

Now this method will no longer work - you will simply be thrown out to the “My Music” or “My Photos” page (depending on which section you are trying to access). This also applies to closed profiles - all sections of the page are automatically considered hidden from “non-friends”.
